Cleric warns Jonathan against godfatherism
ALTHOUGH adjudged to have genuine interest in moving Nigeria forward and delivering the dividends of democracy to the masses, president, Goodluck Jonathan, has been warned to desist from playing to the gallery in the hands of godfathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, else he could derail in his ambition to deliver true democracy to Nigerians if he wins at the April polls.
Expressing this fear was the president and founder of Christ Deliverance Ministries (CDM) in Lagos, Prophet Ekong Ituen, reputed for predictions and prophecies on both national and individual matters.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sunday Independent, Prophet Ituen, noted that the current romance between President Jonathan and Obasanjo, which perhaps has given him leverage over other PDP presidential candidates is note likely to last.
Said he: ‘’spiritually speaking, I see Jonathan as a courageous and straightforward person. I mean somebody who has the interest of this country at heart and somebody who wants to move this country forward. But my fear and sympathy for him is his romance with ex-President Obasanjo because he (Obasanjo) has never stood successfully with somebody till the end. My prayer for Jonathan is for God to guide him and give him the courage and the political will to do the right thing for Nigerians.’’
Ituen also warned that ‘’Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, will disappoint Nigerians as he will note be able to curb rigging of votes come April.’’
Prophet Ituen stressed further: ‘’PDP should pray against leadership crises in the nearest future because PDP will be a party not to reckon with anymore and the party will not be able to control the centre- (Presidency). No solution to bomb blast yet, it will be likened to that of Iraq and Afghanistan there will be bomb blast in many places, there will be a lot of political killings such that we have never witnessed before while the kidnapping will be on the increase.’’
Admitting that the situation indeed appears bleak and terrifying, he urged,
’’ All hands should be on deck to save the situation through prayers.’’
‘’ President Jonathan should pray against shame because there are sycophants and betrayers around him that will make him to take wrong decisions and step on toes of those that helped him to power,’’ the Prophet predicted.
Also touching on some of state governors vying for a second term in office,Ituen foretells: ‘’Governors of Oyo and Imo states should pray against defeat during election. Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State should pray against disgrace because he may not win. If he wins the law court will overturn his victory. One of the incoming governors will find it difficult to complete his four years term in office as he will die mysteriously.’’
While advising President Jonathan to use the remaining months of this first term to ensure a free and fair election, Prophet Ituen believes the problem of electricity should also be given priority by the President.
Said he: ’’I expect him to solve the energy problem among others because electricity is the major problem we are facing in this country. More so, since the ministry is under the presidency, I want him to have control over the people in that sector so that his promise will not end up with the media but be implemented. He should be able to take a decisive step to arrest the ills in that sector and get rid of corrupt officials.
Prophet Ituen is one of the highly reputed clerics in Nigeria respected for his yearly predictions. For example, he predicted the emergence of Goodluck Jonathan as President Federal Republic of Nigeria while still a governor of Bayelsa State, he predicted the death of late General Sani Abacha and the collapse of his transition programme, and he also converted and ordained a former Liberian warlord, Prince Yomie Johnson, now a senator.
