TOPIC: WHOSE SERVANT ARE YOU ?

And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, YE SHALL NOT SEND.And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, SEND. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not. 2Kg:2:15-17

The above verses were the first meeting and interaction between the newly recruited servants of Elisha and Elisha their master.

There are lessons to learn from this 50 servants of Elisha and these lessons are applicable to the workforce in the church of God today.

Every Christian is a SON,SERVANT and SLAVE of Jesus Christ. Today,we shall look at Whose Servant Are you?

For these 50 servants of Elisha

》They were disobedient servants.

What the master told them not to do was what they insisted they wanted to do.How obedient are you in the ministry of leadership of your church?

They bowed to him and still disobeyed him.This attitude is hypocrite and can be best regarded as artificial humility.Today in the body of Christ,many claim to accept Jesus as Saviour but not as Lord-Master.The greatest sermon of Mary, the Mother of Jesus was obedience.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. Jn:2:5.

A true servant of God will obey the constituted authority of the church.

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.Heb:13:17.

》They were servants without vision.

It is dangerous for a servant of God to be spiritually blind.God lamented on this.

Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’s servant?Isaiah:42:19.

Not seeing what the leader is seeing is spiritual blindness too.

It looked as if the servants of Elisha were blind.Elisha saw something they didn’t see and he told them not to go and look for someone that cannot be found.They insisted,went for 3 days in search of Elijah and came back ashamed. 2kg.6v15-17.

A servant of God without vision will watch other servant of God with vision on his own Television.Do you have a vision or Television?

》They were servants without direction.

They were just loitering about looking for Elijah after they were told not to search for him. There is danger in losing direction.Galatians church lost direction and ended in the flesh. Gal.3v1-3.

A servant of God without divine direction will be directed by mere men without vision. Who is directing you in ministry?

》They were servants without Achievement,servants who remained servants.

They didn’t grow to become leaders.Some are not growing in ministry,they are just servants. 2Tim.3v7. These servants failed the test of obeying leadership and they never rise to leadership position.Every form of disobedience or rebellion against leadership is an hindrance to reaching the top.

》They were servants who never imparted lives.

Their presence in the ministry of Elisha was never a blessing to his ministry.

Don’t be a waste in the ministry of your spiritual leader.It is possible to be many and not imparting lives and we can be multitude in church without imparting our society. An individual that is imparting lives is better than multitude that can not impart a life.

Is your life imparting lives?Will you grow to be a blessings to many lives?Be a growing servants,so that you can raise leaders.
